Duncanopsammia axifuga
Origin: Australia, Indo-Pacific
Duncanopsammia axifuga, the Duncan Coral, has rapidly become one of the most popular LPS corals in the reef hobby due to its attractive round, fleshy polyps, enthusiastic feeding response, and steady division rate under good conditions. Polyps extend fully during the day and respond actively to food additions, making it one of the most 'interactive' LPS corals. Colonies can grow impressively large over time with regular feeding.
Low to medium PAR (50–200). Gentle to moderate flow. Alk 8–10 dKH, Ca 400–450 ppm, temp 24–27°C. Feeds eagerly — target feed mysis, Reef Roids, or chopped shrimp 2–3× weekly directly onto extended polyps. New polyp buds appear regularly between existing ones. Peaceful — no sweeper tentacles. One of the best corals for demonstrating feeding behaviour to reef aquarium visitors. Frag by snapping tubes at base.
