Corydoras duplicareus
Also known as: Duplicate Cory, False Adolfoi Cory
Origin: South America (Brazil — Rio Negro basin)
Corydoras duplicareus originates from the blackwater streams of the Rio Negro basin and closely resembles Corydoras adolfoi, differing in the extent of its orange saddle marking. It requires soft, acidic water to truly thrive and is best kept in a biotope-style aquarium. Its striking colouration and relative rarity make it one of the most sought-after corydoras in the hobby.
Water: 22–26°C, pH 5.5–7.0, soft water preferred (GH 2–8). Tank: 60 L minimum; dark fine sand; tannin-stained water from driftwood or Indian almond leaves. Feeding: Sinking pellets, frozen micro-foods, live daphnia and small bloodworm. Behaviour: Peaceful schooler; keep 6+ for security; most active during daylight hours. Compatibility: Best with small, peaceful blackwater species such as cardinal tetras and dwarf cichlids.
