Rhynchocinetes durbanensis
Origin: Indo-Pacific
The Durban Dancing Shrimp features intricate red and white chevron markings across its body and the distinctive hinged rostrum characteristic of the Rhynchocinetidae family. It is a social species that is most active at night, scavenging across rockwork for food. Generally peaceful, though it may occasionally nip at soft coral polyps in reef systems.
Best kept in groups of 3 or more to encourage natural social behavior. House in a FOWLR or mixed reef system where soft coral nipping can be monitored. Feed with sinking meaty foods and scavenge supplementation. Provide rockwork and caves for daytime shelter. Acclimate slowly using the drip method.
