Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki
Also known as: Dwarf Chain Loach, Chained Loach, Sid Loach
Origin: Thailand
Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki is a highly active and charismatic small loach that forms close-knit shoals, often resting communally in piles under driftwood or behind plant clusters. Its intricate dark-on-pale chain patterning is unique in the family, and its small adult size means it can be housed in tanks smaller than most botiids require. An excellent snail controller for nano and mid-size planted aquaria.
Water: 26-30°C, pH 6.0-7.5, soft to moderately hard. Tank: Minimum 60 L, fine substrate, caves, leaf litter and dense plants. Feeding: Tiny sinking pellets, micro-worms, daphnia, small bloodworm. Behaviour: Highly active shoaler; rests communally and remains visible by day. Compatibility: Excellent community fish; peaceful with small and medium tank mates.
