Cambarellus patzcuarensis
Origin: Captive-bred (Mexico)
The Dwarf Mexican Crayfish Blue Form is a selectively bred blue colour form of Cambarellus patzcuarensis, combining a small manageable size with striking colouration. More peaceful than larger crayfish species, it is compatible with fast-moving or larger community fish. An active scavenger that contributes to substrate cleanliness without significant damage to plants.
Provide hiding places such as caves, PVC pipes, and dense plant cover. Compatible with fast-moving fish such as tetras and danios but may catch slow or bottom-dwelling fish. Avoid housing with small shrimp. Feed with sinking pellets, blanched vegetables, and occasional protein-based treats. Secure the aquarium lid as crayfish are skilled escape artists.
