Zoanthus sp.
Origin: Indo-Pacific (aquacultured morph)
Zoanthus sp. 'Eagle Eye' is a highly sought-after designer zoanthid morph with bold yellow-green centres surrounded by a contrasting ring pattern that closely resembles the iris of a bird of prey. Growing in dense spreading mats of individual polyps on rock or frag plugs, it is one of the most visually arresting zoanthid morphs in the hobby. Eagle Eye Zoas grow best under moderate light and flow and are forgiving of minor water quality lapses.
Place in moderate flow with low to medium lighting. Target-feed once or twice weekly with reef nutrition for faster growth. Fragging is simple — cut between polyp groups with sharp scissors. Handle with gloves as all Zoanthus produce palytoxin. Excellent first coral for new reef keepers due to its tolerance and striking appearance.
