Pseudocrenilabrus multicolor
Origin: Nile delta, East Africa
Pseudocrenilabrus multicolor, the Egyptian Mouthbrooder, is one of the smallest cichlids kept in the hobby. Males display brilliant emerald-green and red scaling; females are subtly attractive. A biparental mouthbrooder in which the female is primarily responsible for incubating and caring for fry. Its peaceful temperament and tolerance for a wide range of water conditions make it suitable for community tanks with tetras, livebearers, and peaceful West African species. Easy to breed.
Peaceful community tank. Temperature 22–28 °C, wide pH tolerance (6.5–8.0). Feed quality flake, micro-pellets, frozen daphnia. Males display to each other but rarely fight. 60+ L adequate for a trio.
