Rineloricaria eigenmanni

Origin: South America (Venezuela — Orinoco tributaries)
Rineloricaria eigenmanni is native to Orinoco tributaries in Venezuela and shares the typical whiptail body form with an elongated, depressed profile and extended caudal filaments. Its fine brown-on-cream spotting provides excellent camouflage against sandy substrate. A peaceful, undemanding species that grazes on algae and biofilm, it is best appreciated in a calm biotope environment.
Water: 22–26°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard (GH 2–12). Tank: 100 L minimum; fine sand substrate; driftwood and leaf litter for shelter. Feeding: Algae wafers, sinking pellets, frozen bloodworm occasionally as supplement. Behaviour: Peaceful; mostly solitary; nocturnal grazer. Compatibility: Peaceful with all community species; safe with dwarf cichlids and tetras.
