Rasbora einthovenii
Origin: Malaysia, Borneo, Sumatra (peat swamp forests and blackwater streams)
Rasbora einthovenii is a slender, elegant rasbora from Borneo, Sumatra, and the Thai-Malay Peninsula, featuring a bold dark lateral stripe from snout to tail. It inhabits peat swamp forests and blackwater streams, preferring soft, acidic, tannin-stained water. A peaceful schooling species that pairs beautifully with other blackwater inhabitants.
Maintain in soft, acidic blackwater with Indian almond leaves or peat. Keep in schools of 8+. Feed quality flake, micro-pellets, and small frozen foods. Dense planting and dim lighting preferred. Pairs well with other blackwater species. Somewhat sensitive to hard alkaline water — acclimate carefully.
