Hyphessobrycon elachys
Origin: Paraguay, Argentina (upper Paraná drainage)
Hyphessobrycon elachys is a diminutive, rarely imported tetra from the upper Paraná drainage of Paraguay and Argentina. The fish displays a subtle but attractive silver body with a faint lateral stripe and red-tinted fins. A wonderful choice for species-focused nano planted setups where its small size can be fully appreciated.
Keep in groups of 10+ in a nano planted aquarium. Soft to moderately hard, neutral water acceptable. Feed micro-pellets, daphnia, artemia nauplii, and small flake. Peaceful with all similarly-sized fish. A rarely seen and charming micro tetra for the planted nano enthusiast.
