About
Aphyosemion elegans is aptly named, with its sleek elongated body, iridescent scaling, and fine-pointed fins giving it an unusually graceful appearance among killifish. Found in forest streams of the Congo Basin, it is a plant-spawning non-annual species. Males display their finest colours under soft, slightly acidic water conditions.

Water: 22–26°C, pH 6.0–7.0, soft, slightly acidic. Tank: 40L minimum, well-planted, spawning mops, subdued lighting. Feeding: Carnivore — live and frozen micro-invertebrates strongly preferred. Behaviour: Males occasionally display to each other; non-aggressive overall. Compatibility: Suitable with other small, peaceful species.
