Corydoras splendens
Origin: Upper Amazon, Ecuador, Peru
Corydoras (Brochis) splendens, the Emerald Cory or Emerald Catfish, is the largest of the cory-type catfish, reaching 8–9 cm. Its body displays a vivid emerald-green iridescence that shifts from gold-green to blue-green under different lighting. More robust and faster-moving than many smaller cories, it is an active, confident shoaler. Suitable for community tanks from 100 L. Hardy and adaptable, it tolerates moderate water hardness well.
Groups of 6+. Temperature 22–26 °C, adaptable to neutral-slightly alkaline water. Fine sand substrate. Feed sinking pellets, frozen bloodworm and brine shrimp. More energetic than smaller cories — appreciates a larger tank.
