Poecilia wingei x reticulata hybrid
Also known as: Japan Blue Endler, Endler's Japan Blue
Origin: Captive bred
The Japan Blue Endler's is a hybrid strain produced by introducing the Japan Blue guppy gene into Poecilia wingei backgrounds, resulting in fish that express a vivid electric-blue colouration on the rear half of the body while retaining the compact size and active temperament of Endler's livebearers.
The Japan Blue gene produces a distinctive UV-bright blue neon band on the caudal peduncle and lower body that is particularly striking under LED lighting. Males are slightly larger than pure Endler's due to the guppy genetic contribution, typically reaching 3–3.5 cm.
This is technically a hybrid class (Class N3 in Endler's classification) and should not be mixed with pure wild-type Endler's strains if genetic integrity is a priority.
Water: 22–28 °C, pH 7.0–8.5, moderate to hard water; UV-reactive lighting enhances blue. Tank: 30–40 L; planted; sponge filter; moderate lighting or LED spectrum with blue output. Feeding: Quality nano flake and pellets; live Artemia and Daphnia enhance colour expression. Breeding: Prolific; maintain as a hybrid line; do not mix with pure Endler's strains. Compatibility: Peaceful nano fish; compatible with other small livebearers and nano tetras.
