Poecilia wingei var.
Also known as: Lime Green Endler, Endler's Livebearer Lime Green
Origin: Captive bred
The Lime Green Endler's is a captive-selected strain of Poecilia wingei in which selective breeding has intensified the natural green colouration into a striking lime-green dorsal saddle that covers most of the upper body. The lower body and caudal peduncle retain warm orange tones that contrast brilliantly.
Like all Endler's livebearers, this strain is small, active, and prolific, and thrives best in well-planted nano aquariums where its vivid colours can be fully displayed. Males display almost incessantly, which makes for an entertaining and lively tank.
This strain should be kept separate from fancy guppies to preserve the distinct Endler's characteristics.
Water: 22–28 °C, pH 7.0–8.5, hard water enhances lime-green intensity. Tank: 30 L nano tank ideal; dense planting with floating cover; sponge filtration. Feeding: Nano flake, live baby brine shrimp, and micro worms for best colouration. Breeding: Very prolific; easy to raise fry on nano foods; control population if needed. Compatibility: Species tank or with small, peaceful nano fish; isolate from guppies to maintain strain purity.
