Poecilia wingei var.
Also known as: Tiger Endler, Endler's Livebearer Tiger
Origin: Captive bred
The Tiger Endler's is a captive-developed strain of Poecilia wingei characterised by bold, irregular black stripes or broken bars across a yellow-orange metallic body, evoking the pattern of a tiger. Males at full colour are remarkably striking for a fish under 3 cm in length.
This active, curious strain is ideal for nano planted aquariums and will explore every corner of its habitat. The tiger pattern is maintained through selective pairing and can vary in regularity and coverage between individuals, adding natural variation to a group.
Males display continuously and the activity level makes Tiger Endler's particularly entertaining to watch in a well-planted, species-appropriate aquarium.
Water: 22–28 °C, pH 7.0–8.5, moderate to hard water; tolerant of a range of parameters. Tank: 30 L nano tank; dense planting; sponge filter to avoid fry loss. Feeding: Nano flake or crushed flake; supplement with baby brine shrimp and micro worms. Breeding: Very prolific; fry are robust and easy to raise with appropriate nano foods. Compatibility: Best kept as a species or with very small, non-competitive nano fish.
