Apistogramma sp. 'Ensenadita'
Also known as: Ensenadita Apisto, Ensenadita Dwarf Cichlid
Origin: South America
Apistogramma sp. Ensenadita is collected from a smaller Bolivian waterway and is prized in specialist circles for its warm amber-orange body coloration. Males display a boldly patterned dorsal fin and develop lateral blotching that intensifies during breeding. It adapts reasonably well to aquarium life provided water is kept soft and clean.
Water: 24-29°C, pH 5.5-7.0, soft (GH 2-8); regular water changes important. Tank: 60L minimum, sand substrate, caves and hollow wood, moderate planting. Feeding: omnivore — live/frozen foods preferred; quality micro-pellets and flake. Behaviour: territorial during breeding; harem setup (1M:2-3F) recommended. Compatibility: peaceful community with small tetras, pencilfish, and Corydoras.
