About
The European Perch is a striking native predator with bold dark vertical bars on a green-gold body and vivid red-orange ventral fins. Popular in wildlife ponds and larger formal ponds where it controls smaller fish populations. Best suited to experienced pond keepers who can manage its predatory nature and provide a sufficiently large pond.
Care Guide
Requires a large pond (2,000L+) — will consume small fish and invertebrates. Keep only with fish too large to be eaten. Feed quality predator pond pellets and live/frozen meaty foods. Cold-hardy (4–22°C). A native species of conservation value — interesting and characterful pond fish. Best in species ponds or with large robust fish.
