Boraras urophthalmoides
Also known as: Exclamation Point Rasbora, Least Rasbora
Origin: Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam
Boraras urophthalmoides is an exceptionally small cyprinid from slow-moving, vegetated waters in Thailand and Cambodia. At under 15mm, it is best appreciated in species-only or very peaceful nano tanks where its subtle markings and active schooling behaviour can truly shine.
Water: 22–28 °C, pH 5.0–7.0, soft water preferred (GH 1–8). Tank: 20 L minimum; heavily planted with dense midground and background vegetation. Feeding: Exclusively micro foods: baby brine shrimp nauplii, Cyclops, micro pellets, infusoria for fry. Behaviour: Peaceful micro schooler; keep 10+ to reduce stress and encourage natural behaviour. Compatibility: Only suitable with the smallest shrimp-safe companions; avoid any fish over 3 cm.
