Neocaridina davidi var. 'Extreme Red Sakura'
Also known as: Extreme Red Sakura, Sakura Red High Grade
Origin: Selectively bred; base species from Taiwan and China
The Extreme Red Sakura is a further refinement of the Sakura Red Neocaridina line, selectively bred for maximum red pigment saturation and the smallest possible degree of body transparency. Compared to standard Sakura, the Extreme Red shows denser, more uniform red coverage that approaches the Painted Fire Red grade without the full opacity. These shrimp are robust, adaptable, and breed freely in most tap water conditions, making them ideal for hobbyists who want high-grade color without complex water management. Their deep red coloration stands out in planted tanks with dark substrates and lush green vegetation, creating a striking visual contrast.
Water: pH 6.5–8.0, TDS 150–400 ppm, temperature 18–28°C; standard tap water adequate. Tank: 20+ litres; dark substrate; planted with Java moss and broad-leaf plants. Feeding: Biofilm, algae, color-enhancing shrimp pellets, blanched vegetables. Breeding: Prolific; select densest-colored offspring to maintain Extreme Sakura grade. Compatibility: Peaceful; community-safe with small, non-predatory fish.
