Parasphaerichthys ocellatus
Origin: Myanmar (rice paddies and shallow pools)
Parasphaerichthys ocellatus is a small and rare labyrinth fish from Myanmar, related to the chocolate gouramis but forming its own genus. It has a brownish body with a distinctive dark ocellus (eyespot) at the base of the caudal fin and subtle iridescent markings along the flanks. This species inhabits rice paddies and shallow pools and is best kept in a species tank or with very small, gentle tank mates.
Maintain in soft, slightly acidic to neutral water. Keep in a species tank or with very small, peaceful fish only. Feed micro live and frozen foods: daphnia, artemia, micro worms. Dense planting and floating cover essential. Ensure surface air access for labyrinth breathing. A rarely seen and fascinating nano species.
