Origin: Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra
The Eyespot Rasbora is a peaceful and adaptable nano cyprinid from peat swamp forests and streams of Peninsular Malaysia and Sumatra. The large black eyespot at the base of the dorsal fin acts as a false eye to confuse predators. It is an active schooler that does well in moderately soft water and planted community setups.
Water: 22–27 °C, pH 5.0–7.0, soft to moderately soft (GH 2–12). Tank: 30 L minimum; planted community tank; dark substrate enhances golden colouration. Feeding: Micro pellets, crushed flake, baby brine shrimp, Cyclops; adaptable feeder. Behaviour: Peaceful, active schooler; keep 8+ for natural shoaling behaviour. Compatibility: Universal community nano fish; compatible with shrimp, corys, rasboras, and tetras.
