Also known as: Fairy Cory, Squeaker Cory
Origin: South America
Corydoras atropersonatus, also known as the Squeaker Cory, is a gentle species from Ecuador and northern Peru with fine stippled markings and a subtle dark band through the eye. It prefers soft, slightly acidic water and a calm environment. The audible clicking sound produced when stressed is a unique trait shared with other cories.
Water: 22–26°C, pH 6.0–7.0, soft to medium hardness; dislikes hard alkaline water. Tank: 60L+, fine sand substrate, low to moderate flow, plants and driftwood for cover. Feeding: Small sinking pellets, micro wafers, frozen daphnia, cyclops, and bloodworm. Behaviour: Shy, peaceful schooling species; keep in groups of 6+ and avoid boisterous tankmates. Compatibility: Best with small, peaceful fish; ideal for planted South American biotopes.
