Petitella georgiae
Also known as: False Rummy Nose Tetra, False Rummynose Tetra
Origin: South America (upper Amazon, Peru; Negro River, Brazil)
Petitella georgiae, the False Rummy Nose Tetra, originates from the upper Amazon and Negro rivers in Peru and Brazil. It closely resembles the true Rummy Nose (Hemigrammus rhodostomus) but has slightly different tail stripe proportions. It forms the same dense, synchronized schools and shares the same requirements — soft, warm, slightly acidic water and a large group size to trigger natural schooling behaviour.
Water: 22–28°C, pH 5.5–7.0, soft and slightly acidic water enhances colour and schooling. Tank: 80 L minimum; planted with open mid-water swimming space and some current. Feeding: Quality micro-pellets, flake, frozen brine shrimp, daphnia and micro-worms. Behaviour: Peaceful tight-schooling species; keep 10+ for best synchronized schooling display. Compatibility: Ideal with cardinal tetras, corydoras, small rasboras, and dwarf cichlids.
