Corydoras robineae
Also known as: Flag-tail Cory, Mrs. Schwartz's Cory
Origin: South America
Corydoras robineae is one of the most unusual Corydoras species, instantly recognisable by its boldly striped tail fin — horizontal black and white stripes that are uniquely eye-catching in the aquarium. It originates from the upper Rio Negro and requires soft, acidic blackwater conditions. Its rarity and dramatic appearance place it among the most prized cories.
Water: 22–26°C, pH 5.5–7.0, very soft; blackwater conditions strongly preferred. Tank: 60L+, fine sand, dim lighting, tannins from driftwood and leaf litter; gentle flow. Feeding: Sinking wafers, small frozen foods including bloodworm, daphnia, and cyclops. Behaviour: Peaceful schooling bottom dweller; groups of 6+ strongly recommended. Compatibility: Best with other blackwater species from the Rio Negro drainage.
