Centropyge loriculus
Origin: Central Pacific (Hawaii, Marshall Islands)
Centropyge loriculus, the Flame Angelfish, is arguably the most popular dwarf angel in the hobby. Its intense scarlet-to-orange-red body adorned with vertical black bars and electric blue tail is one of the most striking colour combinations in marine fishkeeping. Native to the Pacific, it is more commonly available from Hawaii (where collection is legal and sustainable). Like all Centropyge, it may occasionally sample soft corals but is generally considered reef safe with monitoring.
Established reef with ample rockwork. Feed spirulina, marine flake, frozen mysis, and enriched brine shrimp. Provide algae-coated rockwork for natural grazing. One Centropyge per tank. May nip at LPS and zoanthids — observe carefully initially.
