Panaqolus albivermis
Origin: Peru
Panaqolus albivermis — the L204 or flash pleco — has a bold pattern of contrasting black and white horizontal stripes across the entire body. It is a wood-eating pleco that rasps on driftwood as a dietary component and source of cellulose. Driftwood is essential in the aquarium. It is a true herbivore/detritivore unlike Hypancistrus. Tank-bred specimens are increasingly available and hardier than wild-caught imports.
pH 6.0–8.0. DRIFTWOOD essential (rasps wood). 100+ L. Feed: algae wafers, zucchini, blanched vegetables, dried wood. Very forgiving of water conditions.
