Caridina cf. cantonensis
Also known as: Flowerbud Shrimp
Origin: Captive bred (Taiwan lineage)
Flowerbud Shrimp are a specialty Caridina cantonensis selectively bred for a distinctive patterning in which white markings contract into a rounded, bud-like arrangement on the dorsal surface. This rare and difficult-to-stabilise pattern places them firmly in the collector tier. They share the demanding soft, acidic water requirements of other high-grade Caridina and should be kept in a well-established, parameter-stable shrimp-only aquarium.
Water: 20–24°C, pH 5.8–6.8, TDS 100–150, GH 4–6, KH 0–2; active buffering substrate. Tank: minimum 20 L, heavy moss coverage, driftwood, no copper-containing treatments. Feeding: powdered shrimp food, biofilm, occasional spirulina wafer. Behaviour: peaceful grazer; most active on moss and substrate surfaces. Compatibility: shrimp-only or with snails; no fish.
