Origin: Papua New Guinea (Fly River)
Nematocentris pulchra is native to the Fly River drainage of Papua New Guinea, one of the largest river systems in the Pacific region. It displays attractive blue-green body colouration with vivid red and orange lateral stripe markings in males. A robust, beginner-friendly species that adapts well to aquarium life and rewards good care with excellent colour development.
Water: 24–28°C, pH 7.0–8.0, moderately hard water. Tank: 120 L+, open swimming space with planted margins. Feeding: Omnivore; quality flakes, pellets, and regular frozen/live foods. Behaviour: Active, peaceful schooling fish; does best in mixed-sex groups of 6+. Compatibility: Excellent community fish with other rainbowfish and peaceful species.
