Pseudomugil furcatus
Origin: Puwani River, Papua New Guinea
Pseudomugil furcatus, the Forktail Blue-Eye, is a captivating nano rainbowfish from Papua New Guinea's Puwani River. Males display vivid yellow fins with black tips and electric-blue eyes. At just 4–5 cm, they are ideal for nano and planted aquariums. Unlike the similar P. gertrudae, P. furcatus prefers slightly harder, more alkaline water. A surface-skimming species that appreciates floating plants for cover. Best in groups to observe natural display behaviour.
Group of 6+ essential. Temperature 24–28 °C. Neutral to slightly alkaline water. Feed micro-pellets, baby brine shrimp, and frozen daphnia. Gentle filtration — no strong flow. Dense planting with floating surface cover. 40+ L.
