Pseudocheilinus tetrataenia
Origin: Indo-Pacific
The Fourline Wrasse (Pseudocheilinus tetrataenia) is a small but bold wrasse characterized by four distinct horizontal stripes alternating between orange-red and white, complemented by vivid blue facial markings. Related to the well-known Six Line and Eight Line Wrasses, it shares their active, inquisitive behavior and their valuable role as hunters of small aquarium pests including flat worms, pyramidellid snails, and bristle worms. Despite its modest size of up to 7 cm, it is a territorial species that will defend its patch of reef structure against intrusions from similarly striped or passive fish — it should be introduced last into a community, or not combined with particularly docile tank mates. An interesting and active addition to suitably sized reef systems.
Provide at least 120 liters with abundant live rock for foraging and territory establishment. Feed twice daily with frozen mysis, marine pellets, and enriched brine shrimp. Add last to an established community to reduce territorial aggression. A secure lid is recommended. Reef-safe with corals; effective at controlling small-bodied pests. Avoid combining with smaller, passive fish that may be intimidated.
