Euphyllia divisa
Origin: Indo-Pacific
Euphyllia divisa, the Frogspawn Coral, is one of the most sought-after and collectible LPS corals in the reef hobby. Each tentacle ends in multiple rounded, bubble-like tips that expand fully during daylight hours to create the distinctive cluster of spheres resembling frog spawn or a bunch of grapes — a visual effect that is both hypnotic and beautiful. It is available in a wide array of color morphs including vivid lime green with purple tips, gold, and brown, with premium collector morphs commanding high prices. Like all Euphyllia corals, it requires stable alkalinity and calcium for consistent skeleton growth and requires adequate spacing from neighboring corals as it will extend tentacles that can sting nearby species.
Place in medium light with gentle to moderate, indirect water flow. Allow at least 15–20 cm clearance from neighboring corals — Frogspawn extends tentacles that can injure nearby LPS and soft corals. Target feed weekly with Reef-Roids, frozen mysis, or LPS-specific coral paste to supplement photosynthesis. Maintain stable reef chemistry: alkalinity 8–11 dKH, calcium 400–450 ppm, magnesium 1250–1350 ppm. New head production is a sign of excellent health and stable parameters.
