Fungia sp. (Plate Coral - Purple)

The purple form of Fungia sp. displays deep violet to purple colouration that glows under blue actinic lighting, making it one of the most visually striking free-living corals available. Like all Fungia, it can right itself if overturned and will slowly move across the sand bed. Larger specimens develop particularly vivid colouration and impressive disc diameters up to 25 cm in mature aquariums.

Medium PAR (100–250). Sand bed placement essential — do not mount on rock. Moderate indirect flow. Alk 8–10 dKH, Ca 400–450 ppm, temp 24–27°C. Target feed 2–3× weekly; aggressive feeder. Maintain 10 cm clearance from other corals. Do not restrict movement — allow free space on sand for potential relocation. One of the most fascinating behaviourally unique LPS corals in the hobby.
