About

Aphyosemion gabunense is a non-annual killifish from the forested streams of Gabon. Males are characterised by a blue body with red spots and the elegant lyretail typical of many Aphyosemion, with the fin extensions edged in yellow and red. Multiple subspecies have been described, each with slightly different colouration, and all thrive best in a stable softwater species tank.

Care Guide

Water: 20–24 °C, pH 6.0–7.0, very soft and slightly acidic. Tank: 30 L planted species tank; floating cover; peat filtration; secure lid. Feeding: Live and frozen Daphnia, Artemia, micro worms; micro-pellets accepted. Behaviour: Males may display and spar; keep one male with two to three females. Compatibility: Species tank preferred; gentle nano fish possible.
