Caridina cf. cantonensis
Also known as: Galaxy Shrimp Mosura Pattern, Galaxy Mosura Shrimp
Origin: Captive bred (Taiwan lineage)
Galaxy Shrimp Mosura Pattern specimens exhibit both the fine dark-speckled galaxy body pattern and a complete solid white head cap (the mosura or hinomaru marking) — a combination that is exceptionally difficult to stabilise and therefore rare and highly valued. The dark speckles scattered across a pale background resemble a star-filled sky, while the white head creates a striking contrast point. They require the same pristine soft acidic conditions as all high-grade Caridina.
Water: 20–24°C, pH 5.8–6.8, TDS 100–150, GH 4–6, KH 0–2; active substrate required. Tank: minimum 20 L, dense moss, dark substrate to maximise pattern visibility. Feeding: premium powdered shrimp food, biofilm, spirulina; small daily amounts. Behaviour: peaceful active grazers; display best in a colony of 15+. Compatibility: shrimp-only tank; no fish.
