Rasbora daniconius
Origin: India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos (widespread across South and Southeast Asia)
Rasbora daniconius is a widespread but rarely offered species distributed across South and Southeast Asia from India through to the Mekong basin. It carries a distinctive dark lateral stripe and a yellowish sheen on the flanks. Its hardiness and peaceful nature make it an excellent choice for community tanks — though it needs adequate space to school properly.
Keep in schools of 8+. Provide open swimming space in a moderately sized aquarium. Feed quality flake, micro-pellets, and small frozen foods. Hardy and adaptable across a wide range of water parameters. An underappreciated and reliable community rasbora well-suited to community tanks in the Benelux region.
