Geophagus camopiensis
Origin: Camopi River, French Guiana
Geophagus camopiensis is a rarely seen eartheater from the Camopi River in French Guiana, displaying soft pastel hues of green-blue and gold with intricate scale patterning and the characteristic eartheater lateral spot. This mouthbrooding species appreciates fine sand substrate, soft acidic water, and the company of others of its kind. A gentle, schooling eartheater that rarely disturbs other fish.
Provide a large aquarium (280L+) with fine sand. Maintain soft, acidic water conditions with excellent filtration. Feed quality eartheater pellets, frozen meaty foods, and plant matter. Keep in groups of 5+. Sensitive to water quality deterioration — perform regular partial water changes. A rare and beautiful eartheater for the dedicated South American cichlid enthusiast.
