Gin Rin Koi

Gin Rin refers to a scale characteristic rather than a color pattern — each scale has a bright, glittery silver reflection due to a special layer of guanine crystals. Gin Rin can occur on top of any standard koi pattern (Gin Rin Kohaku, Gin Rin Sanke, etc.), adding a dazzling sparkle to an already beautiful fish. Under strong light, a Gin Rin koi appears to glitter like diamonds.

Water: 5–25°C, pH 6.8–7.8, clean and clear water maximizes the sparkling effect. Pond: minimum 1,000 L; position lighting to highlight the reflective scales. Feeding: high-quality koi pellets; the sparkling scales are a genetic trait not influenced by diet. Behaviour: peaceful and social; particularly stunning when viewed from above. Compatibility: all koi varieties; often kept as centerpiece fish in show ponds.
