About

Aphyocharax anisitsi, the Glass Bloodfin Tetra, is native to the Paraná River basin in Argentina and is one of the hardiest and most cold-tolerant tetras available. Its near-transparent body is offset by brilliant crimson fins, creating a striking contrast. An ideal beginner fish that remains active, healthy, and colourful across a wide range of water conditions including unheated subtropical aquariums.

Care Guide

Water: 18–28°C, pH 6.0–7.8, soft to moderately hard; suitable for unheated subtropical tanks. Tank: 60 L minimum; works in planted, species, or community aquariums; very adaptable. Feeding: Accepts virtually all foods — flake, pellets, frozen and live invertebrates. Behaviour: Peaceful schooling species; keep 8+; surface-to-mid-water activity. Compatibility: Excellent community fish; compatible with almost any similarly sized peaceful species.
