Danio rerio var. (transgenic — green)
Also known as: GloFish Danio Electric Green, Green GloFish
Origin: South Asia (captive-bred, transgenic)
The Electric Green GloFish Danio is a transgenic form of Danio rerio expressing green fluorescent protein (GFP) originally derived from jellyfish. The entire body fluoresces a vivid electric green, creating a neon glow that is particularly dramatic in darkened aquaria under blue or UV lighting. All care, behaviour, and compatibility characteristics are identical to standard Zebra Danios.
Water: 18–26°C, pH 6.5–7.5, moderate hardness (GH 5–20). Tank: 60 L minimum; glows most spectacularly under blue or UV accent lighting. Feeding: Omnivore; quality flake, micro-pellets, frozen daphnia and brine shrimp. Behaviour: Peaceful active schooler; keep in groups of 6+. Compatibility: Excellent with all peaceful community species; mix with other GloFish varieties for maximum visual impact.
