Danio choprae
Also known as: Glowlight Danio, Chopra's Danio
Origin: Northern Myanmar
Danio choprae was described from the hill streams of northern Myanmar and is valued for its intensely contrasting blue and orange lateral stripes that evoke a neon appearance in good lighting. At under 4 cm, it is well-suited for nano and planted tanks, and its relatively peaceful demeanour makes it a compatible choice alongside shrimp, corydoras, and other small community species. It appreciates clear, oxygenated water with some flow.
Water: 20–26 °C, pH 6.5–7.5, soft to moderately hard (GH 4–15). Tank: 40 L minimum; well-planted with open midwater, moderate flow. Feeding: Omnivore — micro pellets, baby brine shrimp, Daphnia, quality flake. Behaviour: Peaceful active schooler; keep 8+ for natural group dynamics. Compatibility: Good with nano shrimp, small rasboras, and dwarf corydoras.
