Pterophyllum scalare
Also known as: Gold Angelfish, Golden Angel
Origin: South America
The Gold Angelfish is a captive-bred Pterophyllum scalare with a selective gene that suppresses dark colouration, resulting in a beautiful golden-yellow body with minimal or absent black barring. Equally hardy as other scalare variants, it is an excellent choice for beginners and experienced keepers alike.
Water: 24-30°C, pH 6.0-7.5, soft to moderately hard. Tank: Minimum 120L tall tank, lush planting and gentle filtration recommended. Feeding: Angelfish pellets, frozen bloodworm, brine shrimp, quality flake food. Behaviour: Semi-aggressive during spawning; generally calm and tolerant. Compatibility: Ideal with medium tetras, corydoras, and peaceful dwarf cichlids.
