Tetraodon miurus
Origin: Congo River
Tetraodon miurus — the Congo puffer, potato puffer, or gold ring puffer — is a master ambush predator that buries itself in substrate with only its eyes and mouth visible. It is highly camouflaged and strikes prey lightning-fast. Despite its small size (10 cm) it can eat fish nearly its own size. It requires a species-only tank with fine substrate and a diet of meaty whole prey. One of the most fascinating but potentially aggressive freshwater fish available.
Species only tank. pH 6.5–8.0. Fine sand (5+ cm). Feed: whole live/fresh snails, market shrimp, bloodworm. NEVER with other fish — will attack anything.
