Centropyge aurantia
Origin: Coral Sea, Fiji
The Golden Angelfish (Centropyge aurantia) is one of the most desirable and rarely available dwarf angelfish in the marine hobby. Its deep, burnished orange-gold body with faint darker vertical banding gives it an extraordinary jewel-like quality that sets it apart from other Centropyge species. Infrequently exported due to its limited habitat in the Coral Sea and Fiji, it commands a premium price and is a genuine collector's piece. In captivity it is considered one of the more demanding dwarf angels, requiring an exceptionally mature system with a healthy refugium, abundant natural microalgae growth, and consistently excellent water quality. Not suitable for new aquariums or inexperienced marine keepers.
Provide a mature, long-established aquarium (minimum 6–12 months) with abundant live rock, natural microalgae growth, and a connected refugium. Offer a varied and highly nutritious diet including marine algae sheets, spirulina, mysis, and quality sponge-enriched angel preparations. Keep only one per tank. Excellent water quality with stable parameters is non-negotiable for long-term success. May be shy initially — ensure multiple secure retreats.
