Misgurnus anguillicaudatus var. (leucistic)
Origin: East Asia (captive bred)
The Golden Weather Loach is a leucistic colour variety displaying a warm peach-yellow to golden body with pink eyes, making it significantly more visible in ponds than the standard wild-type form. It retains all the behavioral characteristics of the natural species, including notably increased activity before barometric pressure changes — a trait that gave the species its common name as a living weather predictor. Fully cold-hardy through European winters and suitable for outdoor pond life year-round.
House in a pond or large aquarium with a soft substrate (sand or fine gravel) that allows natural burrowing behavior. Temperature range 4–25°C; fully cold-tolerant. Feed sinking pellets, bloodworm, and invertebrates; they will also forage the pond floor naturally. Can be kept singly or in small groups. Very adaptable and easy to maintain with basic pond management.
