Corydoras gossei
Origin: Bolivia (Rio Mamoré)
Corydoras gossei is a rare and sought-after species from the Rio Mamoré in Bolivia, featuring a distinctive bold dark saddle patch across the back against an otherwise pale, metallic-sheen body with a clean, elegant appearance. It is less commonly seen in the hobby than many cory species and commands a premium price due to limited availability in the aquarium trade. This peaceful bottom-feeding catfish thrives in well-maintained aquariums with soft, slightly acidic water and a fine sand substrate.
House in groups of at least 4–6 on a fine sand substrate. Maintain pH 6.0–7.2, temperature 22–26°C, soft to moderately hard water. Feed quality sinking catfish wafers, frozen bloodworm, Tubifex, and Daphnia. Ensure good oxygenation and regular partial water changes. Avoid coarse gravel that may damage barbels. Best paired with peaceful small tetras or livebearers in a calm community aquarium.
