Trigonopoma gracile
Origin: Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia (Sundaland)
Trigonopoma gracile, the Slender or Graceful Rasbora, is a delicate, torpedo-shaped fish from peat swamps and blackwater streams of the Thai-Malay Peninsula and Borneo. Its translucent body carries a faint but attractive horizontal stripe that intensifies beautifully under good lighting in a dark, tannin-stained blackwater aquarium. This species thrives in soft, warm, slightly acidic water with abundant plant cover and driftwood, replicating its shadowy peat swamp habitat.
Set up a blackwater biotope with very soft, acidic water (pH 4.0–6.5, GH 0–6, KH 0–3) at 23–28°C. Add driftwood, Indian almond leaves, and surface floating plants to create a dark, tannin-rich environment. Feed fine micro-foods: micro pellets, Artemia nauplii, Daphnia, and crushed flake. Keep in groups of at least 6 with other small, peaceful blackwater species. Avoid bright lighting and strong flow.
