Helostoma temminkii
Also known as: Green Kissing Gourami, Wild Kissing Gourami
Origin: Southeast Asia
The Green Kissing Gourami is the natural wild-type colouration of Helostoma temminkii, displaying an olive-green body with a silvery sheen. Less commonly kept than the pink morph but considered more natural in appearance. Like the pink form, it grows large, is an effective algae grazer, and thrives in spacious community setups.
Water: temp 22–28°C, pH 6.0–8.0, broad hardness tolerance. Tank: minimum 200L; robust plants and décor; avoid delicate, soft-leaved vegetation. Feeding: omnivore — spirulina-based foods, pellets, algae wafers, live and frozen foods. Behaviour: semi-aggressive through lip-sparring; peaceful otherwise. Compatibility: suitable for large community tanks with robust fish of similar size.
