Krobia guianensis
Also known as: Guiana Dwarf Cichlid, Krobia, Guiana Cichlid
Origin: South America
Krobia guianensis is found in the coastal river systems of Guyana and Suriname and is a modestly coloured but elegant small cichlid with a notably peaceful disposition for the family. It adapts well to a range of water conditions and accepts most foods readily, making it an excellent community cichlid for hobbyists who want a cichlid without the aggression of larger species.
Water: 23-28°C, pH 5.5-7.5, soft to moderately hard (GH 4-15); quite adaptable. Tank: 80L minimum, sand substrate, caves, moderate planting and driftwood. Feeding: omnivore — accepts most live/frozen and quality dry foods; easy to feed. Behaviour: peaceful for a cichlid; mild territorial behaviour during spawning only. Compatibility: excellent community cichlid; compatible with a wide range of peaceful fish.
