Gymnogeophagus rhabdotus
Also known as: Gymnogeophagus rhabdotus, Striped Gymnogeophagus
Origin: South America
Gymnogeophagus rhabdotus is a slender, horizontally striped eartheater native to the rivers of Uruguay, northern Argentina, and southern Brazil. Water: 18-26°C, pH 6.5-7.8, tolerates moderately hard water. Tank: Minimum 180L, fine sand or smooth gravel, minimal décor. Feeding: Quality cichlid pellets, frozen bloodworm, earthworms; accepts most dry foods. Behaviour: Peaceful; mild territorial behaviour during spawning only. Compatibility: Excellent with other subtropical South American fish and livebearers.
