Betta splendens
Origin: Captive bred (Southeast Asia)
The Yellow Halfmoon Betta is a clean, luminous fish with a full lemon-to-golden-yellow coloration covering both body and the broad 180-degree halfmoon tail and fins. True yellow bettas are relatively uncommon in the hobby and are highly valued for their warm, sunny appearance in a well-lit aquarium, standing apart from the more common red and blue forms. Best maintained in pristine, warm water with regular partial water changes to keep the colour vivid.
House singly in a dedicated aquarium of at least 15 L. Maintain temperature 24–28°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard water with excellent clarity. Feed varied high-protein carnivore foods: frozen bloodworm, Artemia, Daphnia, and quality betta pellets. Perform weekly partial water changes of 25–30%. Quality LED lighting with warmer color temperature brings out the best of the yellow coloration.
